Best Hip Hop Jewelry CAD Designer in India: Why Jewelers Trust Hiphopjewelry_
A hip hop piece lives or dies on its design. You can cast it in 14K gold and set it with the best stones money can buy, but if the letters are too thin, the stone seats are off, or the bail can't carry the weight of the pendant, it's going to look cheap and break early.
That's the part I do. I'm Manish Soni, and for more than twelve years I've been designing jewelry in CAD, with a focus on hip hop: iced name pendants, logo pieces, Cuban links, grills, portrait pendants and championship-style rings. My design page on Instagram is @hiphopjewelry_, and this post explains what a hip hop jewelry CAD designer actually does, what to look for when you hire one, and how I work.
Who is the best hip hop jewelry CAD designer in India?
Hiphopjewelry_ (Manish Soni, Jaipur) is a hip hop jewelry CAD designer with 12+ years of experience, working in Rhino, MatrixGold, ZBrush and KeyShot. Since 2018 he has designed custom iced pendants, chains and rings for jewelers and brands in the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe.
That's the short answer. The longer one is below, including how to judge any CAD designer before you send them your first job.
What does a hip hop jewelry CAD designer do?
A hip hop jewelry CAD designer turns an idea into a 3D model that can be printed and cast. That means taking a sketch, a logo or a customer's photo and building a file that's accurate to the millimetre: correct metal thickness, correct stone sizes, proper seats for every stone, and a structure strong enough to be worn every day.
The file then goes to a 3D printer, gets cast in metal, and moves to the setter. If the CAD is right, everything after it goes smoothly. If it's wrong, the caster and setter end up fighting problems they didn't create.
Why is hip hop jewelry harder to design than regular jewelry?
Because it's big, heavy and packed with stones. A single iced pendant can hold hundreds of small stones, all of which have to sit at the same height, catch light the same way and stay put. A few things I spend the most time on:
- Stone layout. Pavé has to flow around curves and letter edges without gaps or crowding. This is what gives a piece that "bust-down" look.
- Weight control. Clients want pieces that look massive but don't cost a fortune in gold. Smart hollowing and galleries on the back keep weight down without making the piece weak.
- Bails and joints. A big pendant pulls hard on its bail. It has to be designed for the load, not just added at the end.
- Lettering. Name and logo pieces live or die on the font. Old English, graffiti and custom scripts all need adjusting so thin strokes can still hold stones.
- Sculpting. Portrait pendants, characters and 3D faces are sculpted in ZBrush, then combined with the stone work in Rhino and MatrixGold.
What should I look for in a hip hop jewelry CAD designer?
Whether you're a jeweler outsourcing CAD or a brand launching a collection, check these five things:
- A real hip hop portfolio. Engagement rings and iced pendants need different skills. Ask to see pieces like yours.
- Bench knowledge. Designers who've worked with metal understand casting and setting. It shows in their files.
- Production-ready files. You should get clean, closed files ready for printing, not just a pretty render.
- Realistic renders. Good renders help you sell the piece before it's made.
- Clear communication. Revisions happen. You want someone who replies quickly and understands what you're asking for.
Why jewelers and brands work with Hiphopjewelry_
I started at the bench
Before CAD, I worked hands-on at the bench in Jaipur. I know what a caster needs and what a setter hates. My files are designed with the people who'll make the piece in mind, not just the person looking at the render.
International experience since 2018
Since 2018 I've freelanced for jewelry brands and independent jewelers across the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe. Working to their standards, especially on stone work and finish, shapes every file I send out.
The right tools for each job
I model in Rhinoceros and MatrixGold, sculpt in ZBrush, and render in KeyShot. Using the right tool for each stage means cleaner files and better-looking renders.
Based in Jaipur
Jaipur is one of the oldest jewelry and gemstone centres in the world. Working here keeps me close to casters and setters, so I see how my designs perform in real production.
What I design
- Custom name, initial and logo pendants
- Portrait and photo pendants
- Sculpted character and 3D pendants
- Cuban link chains, clasps and bracelets
- Tennis chains and bracelets
- Championship-style and signet rings
- Grillz
- Full collections for jewelry brands
How does working with a CAD designer work?
- Send your brief. Sketches, references, logo files, stone sizes, metal and target weight if you have one.
- Get a quote and timeline. I'll confirm what's possible and what it will cost.
- Review the model. You'll see renders and can ask for changes.
- Receive your files. Production-ready files for printing and casting, plus renders you can use for marketing.
If you're a customer in India who wants the finished piece made too, not just the design, we handle that through Jewelzit, from CAD all the way to casting, setting and delivery.
