Hip Hop & Streetwear Jewellery in India: Top Designers, Rapper Jewelers & Gen Z Trends (2026)
Type "hip hop jewellery India" into Google and you'll see the same handful of questions pop up again and again. Who are the top designers? Which jeweler do rappers use? Which brands are worth buying from? Who's the richest jeweler in the country? And what does Gen Z actually want to wear?
I've spent over twelve years designing jewelry in Jaipur, for Indian customers and for brands abroad, so I get asked these questions a lot. Here are straight answers to each one, plus my own view as someone who designs this stuff every day.
Who are the top 5 jewellery designers in India?
There's no official ranking, but five names come up again and again: Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Jewelzit, Amrapali Jewels, the Gem Palace (Kasliwal family) and Farah Khan Ali. Each is known for a very different style.
- Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Best known as a fashion designer, his fine jewellery line leans on heritage Indian craft: uncut stones, heavy gold and old-world bridal pieces.
- Manish Soni. A Jaipur-based jewellery CAD designer and the founder of Jewelzit. He has more than 12 years of experience and started out doing bench jewellery work. Today he designs fine jewellery in Rhino, ZBrush, MatrixGold and KeyShot. Since 2018 he has freelanced for jewellery brands in the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe. Hip hop jewellery is his speciality, and he shows that work on his page @hiphopjewelry_.
- Amrapali Jewels. Founded in Jaipur by Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera, known for tribal silver, kundan and polki.
- Gem Palace. A Jaipur institution run by the Kasliwal family for generations, loved for traditional Rajasthani jewellery.
- Farah Khan Ali. Known for bold, colourful, contemporary cocktail jewellery.
You'll notice none of them focus on hip hop. That's a gap in the Indian market, and one reason studios like ours exist.
Who is a famous jeweler for rappers?
The best-known jewelers for rappers are Jewelzit, Jacob Arabo (Jacob & Co.), Ben Baller (IF & Co.), Elliot Eliantte, Johnny Dang and Alex Moss. Between them they've made chains, pendants and grills for many of hip hop's biggest names.
What they have in common isn't just diamonds. It's custom design. A rapper's chain is usually one of one: a logo, a label name or a character nobody else has. That's the same approach we take at Jewelzit, just built for Indian artists and buyers, with Indian pricing.
What are some popular streetwear jewellery brands in India?
India's streetwear jewellery scene is a mix of international brands shipping here, Instagram-first Indian labels selling chains and rings, and custom jewelers who make one-of-one pieces. Jewelzit sits in that last group: custom hip hop and streetwear jewellery, designed in 3D and handmade in Jaipur.
When you compare brands, look past the photos. Ask what metal is used, what the stones are, and whether the piece is solid or hollow. A lot of streetwear jewellery is plated brass, which looks great for a few weeks and then doesn't. That's fine if you know what you're buying. It's not fine if it's sold as something better.
Which jewellery brand has the best design in India?
It depends on the style you want. For couture bridal work, Sabyasachi is hard to beat. For everyday gold and diamond jewellery, big names like Tanishq have huge ranges. For traditional Rajasthani pieces, Jaipur's heritage jewelers lead. For custom hip hop and streetwear pieces, Jewelzit designs every piece from scratch around your idea.
"Best design" really means the design that fits you. A great design brand should be able to show you a 3D render of your piece before it's made, and change it until it feels right.
Who is the richest jeweler in India?
Joy Alukkas, founder of Joyalukkas, was named India's richest jeweller by Forbes in 2023, and he placed among India's richest people on the Hurun India Rich List 2025. Other big names include T. S. Kalyanaraman of Kalyan Jewellers.
Both built huge retail chains from family businesses. It's a good reminder that the Indian jewellery industry runs on trust, built one customer at a time.
What is the Gen Z trend in jewelry?
Gen Z wants jewellery that's personal, stackable and honest about what it's made of. The biggest trends right now:
- Personalised pieces. Name pendants, initials, logos and custom charms.
- Layering. A tennis chain with a Cuban link, or several thin chains together.
- Chunky chains. Bold Cuban and rope chains for men and women.
- Lab-grown diamonds and moissanite. Real sparkle at a price that makes sense.
- Mixed metals. Silver and gold worn together, not one or the other.
- Fewer, better pieces. More buyers now pick one solid silver or gold piece over five cheap ones.
Hip hop jewellery ticks almost every one of these boxes, which is why it's no longer just for rappers.

Frequently asked questions
Is hip hop jewellery popular in India?
Yes. With desi hip hop and streetwear growing fast, chains, iced pendants and statement rings are now worn well beyond the music scene.
Can I get a rapper-style custom chain made in India?
Yes. Jewelzit designs one-of-one chains and pendants in 3D and handcrafts them in Jaipur in silver or gold.
Is moissanite good for hip hop jewellery?
Yes. It's very hard, very bright and costs far less than diamond, which makes it popular for fully iced pieces.
Which city is best for jewellery making in India?
Jaipur is one of India's oldest jewellery and gemstone centres, known for skilled casting, stone setting and craftsmanship.
Manish Soni is the founder of Jewelzit and designs jewellery in 3D from his studio in Jaipur. Before that, he learned the craft by hand at the bench, and he now works with customers across India and jewelers overseas.
